Rodent fest April 28th!
Here's the information that was sent out! I hope to see many of you there.
The UMC is currently working with the organizers of RF to host a show during their event in the farmer's market!
We'll be sure to keep everyone updated!
"This year Spring Rodentfest will be held on April 28, 2012. It will be at the Leesport Farmer's Market at 312 Gernants Church Rd in Lessport PA 19533. Vendor tables are now open for rental and the same rules apply. Four week quarenntine and the animals must pass the health check. I will send o list of animlas that are not allowed at Rodentfest when you reserve your table. If those animals show up they will be turned away and will need to be taken off the premisis.
The rat show will begin at noon so please try to get ther accordingly to register your rats for the show. If anyone would like to help put flyers around where you live to promote this free admission event, please contact me at fxmkpdiva@aol.com and I will send you one. We would like to get the word out to the public so we get a good turnout.
Thank you for supporting Rodentfest all these years and we hope to see everyone there. Let's see some awesome animals, find them homes, and have a great time!"
Spread the word!

Hopefully we will know for sure soon. Casey has been working with the RF coordinators to work out a time and see if we can have the show. We are excited to have this opportunity! Hopefully she can add more details. I'm working more 'behind the scenes' getting the score sheets/etc taken care of.

Re: Rodent fest April 28th!
I am beyond interested in coming to this event. It will be a 22 hour drive but I really want to! I hope to have a showable buck or doe!
Is there any chance that I could have a booth to sell handmade rodent charms? I just learned a new casting method and I can use it to make handsculpted mice, rats, rabbits, and piggies...I will be taking requests prior to the show and charms will be available in silver.925 or bronze. I'll be posting pics of available designs. It would really help me offset the gas money!
IMPORTANT! Can we have a pet class?!?! I want to compete with angora but hardly any angora in the US are show type anyway...mine are not...

Definitely post pics. Casey and I are splitting a table I believe. She should be able to get the info from the co-coordinator so you can reserve a table.
I'll be bringing hammocks and such.
Looking forward to meeting you

Tiny, this show will not have a pet class.
BUT. The UMC has a separate BIS award for coat type, this allows people to breed specifically for coat type, and still be able to win a BIS!
For table rental information contact: fxmkpdiva@aol.com
When you send your email, put in a note that says you're very interested in going to see the UMC mouse show, and to compete!
The more people that are interested in it, the more likely we are to be allowed to host it!
I haven't gotten a 100% yes or no answer yet, but it seems like they're going to let us!

I sure can't wait. I forget it's three months away, but it's better to have everything totally together anyhow, ahead of time.
If I am able to make the drive you mousers must consider me fully committed, (and non mousers might have me committed, heehee.)
EDIT-Emailed her! I am so stinkin excited, lol.

Re: Rodent fest April 28th!
BTW, I've been emailing with Roland, who will be in NY (I think NYC) at the end of April and would like to go to RF but has no car. I am wondering if anybody would be able to give him a ride. Elena, is that too much out of your way?
Re: Rodent fest April 28th!
ehh
It's about 400 miles out of the way (6 hours) round trip. :-/ It would be over $140 in gas and tolls (damn bridge and tunnel tolls)
I would but I can't really afford it
Have you talked to Christine Fogu (KAW). She's in Jersey. She might be closer? I'm coming from up by Niagara Falls/Canada.
Also, it's like $40.00 a day plus insurance for unlimited miles to rent an enterprise car? Maybe an option? I definitely want to meet him!

Re: Rodent fest April 28th!
I have a suggestion.
Last march I took a solo trip up to NY for a book signing.
I took a mega bus out of White marsh up to the stop in NY.
It was 35$ each way. It's probably cheaper from NY to PA.
If he's willing to take a bus I wouldn't mind chipping in to help out on a ticket. If he gets to PA on the bus, all he'd need is someone to swing by the bus stop to pick him up. It's tons of fun and the buses are really comfortable and clean.

Bus tickets ARE cheap, like Lycrisa mentioned!
But If Roland is picking up mice, they won't allow them on a bus.
Renting a car should be no problem though!
And Christine might be able to help!

Thanks everybody! I'll let Roland know his options. Does anybody have contact info for Kristine?
Re: Rodent fest April 28th!
Her email address is kaworldnet@yahoo.com
I'm 99% certain she's going to RF :-)
